What Is On Human Performance?

On Human Performance is a place for me to share my ideas about human health and performance. On Human Performance will cover topics ranging from integrative physiology, strength and conditioning, wearable technology, molecular biology, and the intersections between these fields.

The opinions expressed in On Human Performance are solely my own and do not express the views or opinions of organizations and groups I am affiliated with or my past/current employer(s).

Who Am I?

My name is Evan Peikon, and I'm a physiologist, computational biologist, and entrepreneur. I spent seven years working with professional athletes, teams, and military special operations as a physiologist and data analyst before stepping away to focus on my startup company, NNOXX, where I'm a co-founder and the chief bioscientist.

My focus at NNOXX is on developing small, powerful, wearable devices capable of measuring an array of blood-based molecules. My team and I previously developed the first wearable device for measuring muscle oxygenation and nitric oxide levels in small blood vessels. You can learn more about our work in this editorial published by the Allen Institute.

I hold a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary biology from Stony Brook University, a master's degree in medical physiology and pharmacology from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and a graduate certificate in applied data science. I'm also keenly interested in bioinformatics and biological data visualization, and I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in bioinformatics and computational biology in 2024.

Hear What Others Are Saying About On Human Performance

“Evan provides a deep understanding of physiology and has a unique talent for taking his knowledge and articulating in a way that creates a common language between him and the coaches he works with. I’ve been able to increase my knowledge and have been able to apply in a way that is suitable for the athletes I work with. I honestly feel lucky to have the chance to learn from him. Absolutely one of the best resources I’ve had.”

- Isaac S., Weightlifting Coach

“Evan delivers a structured, thoughtful, and comprehensive breakdown of his coaching process and insights gained from the use of NIRS and other devices. He provides helpful tools, feedback, and is very generous with his time and responding to any question asked. Also, and most important of all, Evan's a good person and fun to have a conversation with.”

-Kyle C., Coach & Gym Owner

“The information provided is so cutting edge that you won’t find it anywhere else. Evan’s work is changing much of what we know about strength and conditioning. My goal is always to be as knowledgeable about health and fitness as possible. This has been an extremely valuable asset towards achieving that goal.”

-Dakota C., Health & Performance Coach
